Ten Minutes Before
Your First Random Call
The useful preparation is not looking perfect. It is controlling what the camera, microphone and conversation reveal.
Start the ten-minute check// minute by minute
A short setup that prevents long problems
- 0–2: remove mail, photos, uniforms, windows and reflective surfaces from frame.
- 2–4: test camera and microphone in system settings; close apps using them.
- 4–6: choose what you will not share—surname, employer, exact location, accounts, money.
- 6–8: find Next, Stop, Block and Report; confirm how to revoke permissions.
- 8–10: prepare one opener and one closer so pressure does not write the script.
// expectation reset
A first call is a compatibility check, not a commitment
Short conversations, skips and silence are ordinary in random chat. Do not interpret a stranger’s refusal as a challenge, and do not disclose more to keep someone from leaving. A useful first session can be five minutes in which you test the interface and exit cleanly.
MixuChat’s public selector showed Video, Audio and Text during our check. If video feels too revealing, begin with another available mode and review the next prompt.
// two scripts
Open and close without oversharing
Open: “What’s something interesting you learned this week?” Close: “Thanks for the chat—I’m heading out.” If the exchange becomes sexual, financial, threatening or coercive, skip courtesy and leave.
// after the first session
Review the process, not whether a stranger liked you
The first session is useful product research. A two-minute review can improve the next call without turning normal skips into a judgment about appearance or personality.
Technical
Was the camera framed correctly? Did the microphone expose background conversation? Did the permission prompt match the selected mode?
Boundary
Which question made you hesitate? Decide a shorter response now. Note whether you found Leave, Block and Report without searching.
Product
Did a login, price or filter appear later than expected? Record the exact screen and date. Do not generalize one match into a claim about the whole audience.
Remove permissions you no longer want, close unwanted off-platform contact and keep no screenshots of ordinary participants. The useful record is about your setup and product flow.
