Random usually means “not selected by profile”
In a random video chat, a participant generally asks the service to introduce someone without first choosing that person from a visible profile list. That describes the user experience, not the code behind it.
A service can still limit an eligible pool by mode, availability, location, language, moderation state or internal rules. It may then order that pool in ways users cannot inspect. Unless the service documents and audits the algorithm, “random” should not be read as “every participant had exactly the same mathematical chance.”
This distinction is not a technical loophole. It prevents a familiar marketing word from turning into claims about fairness, geography or personalization that the public interface cannot prove.

Text first
Useful when you want to assess tone without sharing your camera, room or voice. Do not type the personal details you kept off-screen.
Audio next
Voice adds timing and emotion, but it can reveal accent, background noise and other location clues. Review microphone permission.
Video when ready
Check reflections, documents, badges and windows before granting camera access. A visible face still is not identity verification.
Chrome offers site-level camera and microphone decisions, including one-time or while-visiting choices on supported versions. Confirm the domain and request instead of changing permissions globally just to enter one conversation.

The Federal Trade Commission advises against sending cash or paying an online love interest through gift cards, wire transfers or cryptocurrency. A live camera does not cancel that warning.

A random match is allowed to be brief
You may meet someone with little in common, encounter a language gap, wait longer than expected or decide not to continue. None of those outcomes proves that the service is broken; neither does one fast, enjoyable conversation prove that every later match will be the same.
Use a neutral opening that does not ask for identifying information: a film someone watched recently, a hobby they are learning, or music they have on repeat. If the tone becomes sexual, aggressive, financial or manipulative, end the interaction. You do not need to debate a stranger to justify leaving.
If a conversation is valuable, let that be the result of mutual interest rather than a promise built into the word “random.” The platform can arrange an introduction; it cannot guarantee chemistry.

Opening the route and using every feature are different
The public match selector was free to open in our check. MixuChat also had optional coin packages and a 30-day VIP item in its product catalog.
If a later action shows a price, pause and check the exact item, amount, duration and renewal language. “Free random chat” should never be stretched into a promise that every mode, match or premium feature costs nothing.
