Store surface
Google Play listed LivU as an app with in-app purchases, a Mature 17+ content rating and 50M+ downloads.
A store rating is not the minimum age in LivU’s contract, and download count does not establish active users or match quality.

An app with profiles, translation, virtual gifts and age verification solves a different problem from a short browser entry. This memo shows where LivU and MixuChat differ—and where the public evidence runs out.

// short answer
It can be an alternative for the narrower job of opening a 1-on-1 video, audio or text path. It is not presented here as a feature-for-feature LivU replacement.
LivU’s current Google Play page describes an app-led social system: random video matching, direct calls, friends, unlimited text messaging, live translation, filters and virtual gifts. Its own FAQ says an account is required. MixuChat’s desktop route, which we checked on August 26, opened a public selector showing Video, Audio and Text before any account prompt.
That shorter entry may suit someone who wants to inspect the next step before building a profile. Someone who values saved friends, direct re-calling, translation or social discovery may prefer the broader app model. Neither product shape proves better conversations.
// a label conflict worth noticing
A content rating that helps describe material in the app.
The service’s stated eligibility rule, with age verification described.
These labels answer different questions. A 17-year-old should not treat the Play rating as permission to register: LivU’s terms explicitly say people under 18 may not use the products. The same terms say verification may involve Yoti, facial recognition or government-issued ID, with manual review available if facial recognition is not wanted.
This is a useful check for any video-chat service: compare the app-store badge with the current contract before you provide a birth date, face scan or ID document.
// evidence ledger
Google Play listed LivU as an app with in-app purchases, a Mature 17+ content rating and 50M+ downloads.
A store rating is not the minimum age in LivU’s contract, and download count does not establish active users or match quality.
LivU’s FAQ says an account is required. Its terms set an 18+ minimum and describe age verification that may use Yoti, facial recognition or government ID.
We did not create an account or submit verification material.
LivU’s store page advertises random video, direct calls, text chat, translation, filters, friends and virtual gifts.
These are first-party descriptions. Availability, price and behavior may vary by version, account or region.
LivU’s terms describe paid coins, premium services, subscriptions, per-use pricing and possible pricing differences by location or payment channel.
We did not open checkout, so this page does not publish a price table that could quickly become stale.
On desktop, MixuChat’s public Start route displayed Video, Audio and Text before an account prompt.
We stopped before permission and matching. The catalog still included coins and a 30-day VIP product.
// cost is a flow, not a badge
LivU’s FAQ says its random video chat has a free option. Its Terms of Service give the fuller commercial picture.
The terms describe paid coins, Premium Services and paid content. They say an offering may use a subscription, per-use charge or another method displayed at purchase, and that pricing may depend on location or payment channel. The terms also say paid coins are consumed before free coins when buying paid services or items.
MixuChat needs the same scrutiny. Its selector was free to open, but our catalog check found coin packages and a 30-day VIP item. That is why this article does not use “completely free” as a comparison point.
// before profile creation
LivU’s privacy policy lists registration information, linked social accounts, profile and ID verification information, purchase history, geolocation, device information, photos and messages among the categories it may process. The terms say verification scans can be kept for future verification and records, but no longer than three years after the user’s last interaction.
That does not mean every visitor supplies every category. It means the data decision expands as features are used. Location filters can involve location data; purchases create transaction records; age verification can involve a face or ID. Match each disclosure to a feature you actually want.
The policy also tells users to assume material posted or submitted in the app may be publicly viewable. A 1-on-1 screen can feel private while the surrounding account, profile or message system has broader visibility rules. Read the policy at the feature level, not from the emotional feel of a call.
// five decisions in order
LivU publicly describes profiles, friends, translation, filters, gifts and direct calls. MixuChat’s tested public route begins with three communication modes. Decide whether you want an ongoing social graph or a smaller first step.
LivU’s Google Play listing shows Mature 17+, while its Terms of Service require users to be 18 or older. If two labels answer different questions, the service terms govern eligibility.
LivU’s policy covers registration, linked accounts, verification, purchases, location, device data, photos and messages. Do not submit ID, location or a profile photo until you understand why that feature needs it.
Write down the actual currency, coin amount, per-use charge, subscription period and cancellation route shown to your account. “Free download” and “free random chat” do not answer the total-cost question.
Start with the least revealing mode, neutral background and no identifying details. Stop at the first unexpected permission or price prompt. A product should earn the next disclosure rather than receive it by default.
// our test boundary
For LivU, we reviewed current first-party website pages, its Google Play listing, Terms of Service, Privacy Policy and Community Guidelines. The official homepage returned a blank page in our desktop browser, so we did not describe its visual layout as a firsthand observation.
We did not download the app, create an account, complete age verification, grant device permissions, open checkout or enter a call. For MixuChat, we observed the public desktop selector and reviewed the site’s product catalog, but stopped before device permission and matching.
Therefore this page cannot tell you which service matches faster, contains more genuine participants, moderates better or produces safer calls. Those outcomes require a different, consent-aware testing method and may vary by time, region and account.
// continue by concern
// faq
No. They are separate services. This page uses LivU’s public website, Google Play listing and first-party policies as sources, plus a dated check of MixuChat’s public selector.
The store content rating is not the service eligibility rule. LivU’s current Terms of Service say users must be at least 18. Check the terms that apply where you live before creating an account.
Its official FAQ describes free random video chat and optional purchases. Its terms also describe paid coins, premium services, subscriptions and per-use charges. Treat “free” as a starting condition, not a promise that every action costs nothing.
No such claim is made. We could open its public selector without an account prompt, but the catalog we checked also contained coin packages and a 30-day VIP item.
No. We did not register, complete age verification, grant camera or microphone access, purchase anything or enter a private match. Match quality, moderation outcomes and participant identity were not tested.
